When you own a KIT pass, you can buy tickets with a discount for almost all Tropentheater events. (Up to two tickets with a discount per pass holder.) But that's not all...
What is the KIT pass?
The Tropentheater is part of the Royal Tropical Institute (KIT). The KIT is a knowledge centre for international cooperation and intercultural communication. Your membership makes you a Friend of KIT, automatically supporting activities such as:
- support of farmers in Africa
- research into the combat of malaria, leprosy and tuberculosis
- conservation and exhibition of international and cultural heritage
The benefits of a KIT pass
- discounts for two people on almost all performances in the Tropentheater
- subscription to the monthly Tropentheater events leaflet
- free admission to the Tropenmuseum
- subscription to the tri-monthly Tropenmuseum events leaflet
- free entrance to the World Museum (Wereldmuseum) in Rotterdam
- free admission to the National Museum of Ethnology (Rijksmuseum voor Volkenkunde) in Leiden
- right to borrow (travel) books from the KIT library

What does the KIT pass cost?
The KIT pass costs €35.00 per calendar year. If you become a Friend of Kit between 1 July and 31 October, you will be charged only €17.50 for the first year. If you join after 1 November you pay the full amount and your membership will be valid for the entire following calendar year.
How to obtain the KIT pass
You can become a friend of KIT in the following ways:
- Apply using the application form. You will receive your KIT pass within two weeks.
- Send an email with the subject ‘Request for KIT pass payment authorisation form’ to theaterkassa@kit.nl, and include your name and address. You will receive a payment authorisation form within two weeks.
